Recognition

 

 

In order to recognize Master Gardener volunteer efforts of significance in supporting the Master Gardener Mission of giving back to the community, the St Charles Master Gardener organization has implemented a recognition program in September 2012, to honor individual Master Gardeners.

The Awards will be presented annually, beginning in 2013, at the January general meeting based upon reported volunteer hours for the previous calendar year.

 

Annual Awards

The award will be a small pin that can be affixed to the name badge consisting of an inscribed flower and the volunteer level achieved.

Levels

 50 hours – Flower is a viola

 100 hours – Flower is a rose

 200 hours – Flower is a calla lily

 500 hours – Flower is a daffodil

Requirements

 Recipient must be an active Master Gardener

 Eligible hour totals, begin in the year of policy adoption

 Hours must be reported in St Charles County state database totals

 All hours count within the calendar year – volunteer, continuing education and advanced training

Procedure

 Award is a pin that can be attached to the MG badge

 Awards will be presented at the January Master Gardener meeting

 Group picture of award recipients in the Minutes and More with written caption

 

Cumulative Awards

Levels

 First award will be presented upon the completion of 1,000 volunteer hours.

 Plaque will be updated upon the completion of each additional 1,000 volunteer hour increment

Requirements

 Recipient must be an active Master Gardener

 Eligible hours are only those in supporting the St Charles County Master Gardeners since joining the organization

 Hours must be reported in St Charles County state database totals

 All hours count – volunteer, continuing education and advanced training

 

Procedure

 Award is a commemorative plaque and native tree or shrub placed in the Demonstration Garden Treescape

 Plaque will be updated at the completion of each additional 1,000 hour volunteer effort

 Award presented at the January Master Gardener meeting

 Group picture of award recipients in the Minutes and More with written caption

The Membership Committee will be responsible for providing the information on award recipients to the Steering Committee at the November meeting for approval to order pins and plaques.
