February 26, 2015 Meeting

The Master Gardener Meeting was called to order at 7 pm by Mary Carey.

  • Awards – Waneta Parmenter.  No awards were conferred, but Master Gardener, Maureen Walmsley who transferred from Purdue, IN was awarded her St. Charles County, MO  Master Gardener badge.

  • Treasurer’s Report - Joe Walker presented.  Current bank balance is(see treasurer for amount).  Our plant sale continues to be our main source of revenue.  Budget for 2015 is in progress, but not yet finalized.   An ad hoc committee is currently reviewing budget procedures in order to more closely align revenue requirements with resourcing.

  • Dig In – Mary Carey reported that 50 people are registered.  Invitation was made to all to help with the setup tomorrow at 10 am.  Parking for Dig-In for participants should be at  Brown Road Park.

  • Plant Sale, Flyer, Leads Meeting – Mary Medina.  Thanks to Ken Waterman for design of flyers.   Demo Garden Lead meeting has been rescheduled for March 14.  Organizational meeting for the plant sale will be held on Saturday, March 28.  Details are always in the Monday Master Gardener news.

  • Greenhouse/ Seeding, Transplant Classes – Evelyn Franks had conducted greenhouse orientation and training earlier.  There will be a Seed Starting Class at 9 am, March 7 seeding zinnias and marigolds for the April plant sale.  Transplant Class will be held on April 4 at 9 am.  These classes are open to Master Gardeners only.

  • Marketing Master Gardeners/Extension - Charlotte Mielziner.  Printing prices for the cookbook are too high for our current budget; alternatives are being explored.

  • Master Gardener Classes start next Wednesday.  Only 8 registered, and probably will be cancelled if we don’t have a minimum of 15.

  • Scott Killpack Retirement  - No regular meeting in March; “low key” retirement celebration only.  Invitation will include an invitation to share a memory, anecdote, or photo, and a memory book will be assembled.  No replacement named yet.
